SHENGZHEN, CHINA, September 8, 1999 — Legend-CA, a joint venture of Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) and The Legend Group, today announced "Wen Deng," the industry's first visual Chinese development environment aimed at the burgeoning business community in that country.

Wen Deng, which provides an integrated solution for developing e-business applications that adapt to fast-growing modern enterprises, is the first product by the joint venture, which formed in November 1998. Wen Deng is also the first in a series of software solutions from Legend-CA aimed at systems integrators and software developers in the Chinese business community.

The product was launched in Simplified Chinese, which is designed to provide e-commerce solutions to businesses in mainland China. Legend-CA is planning to release a Traditional Chinese edition in the near future focusing on Taiwanese businesses.

Wen Deng is a comprehensive application development environment that is more intelligent and easier to use than traditional object-oriented programming languages. In addition to being a complete Chinese IDE, it is the only product that uses Chinese to define variable names, class names, function names, method names, comments, user-defined types and database table names.

Wen Deng also integrates an object-oriented database system, programming language and repository-based visual Chinese development environment, and comes equipped with powerful network delivery tools.

The new offering supports Windows 95/98 and NT for client and development environments. The database server runs on Windows NT.
